Phico’s SASPject^TM technology comprises a completely new class of antibacterial agent and is aimed initially at bacteria that are resistant to conventional antibiotics.

SASPject^TM PT1.2 is aimed at Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA, and will be used for the intra-nasal decolonisation of MRSA. This SASPject^TM has completed pre-clinical trials and is expected to enter a Phase I clinical trial in late 2008.

SASPject^TM PT2.0 is aimed at Clostridium difficile and will be formulated for oral therapy against C. difficile associated disease (CDAD). This SASPject^TM is in development.

SASPject^TM PTS3.2 is aimed at the Staphylococci, including S. aureus and S. epidermidis, and will be used for IV administration primarily as an add-on to existing broad spectrum antibiotics to ensure therapeutic activity against MRSA. The lead SASPject^TM vector is in late stage selection.

SASPject^TM technology is also being applied to antibiotic resistant Gram negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter spp. PT4.0 is in early stage lead selection.
